Meet Dominic Maatany
Professional Safari Guide. Storyteller. Custodian of the Wild.

I was not drawn to the wild by chance - I was shaped by it.
Growing up surrounded by the landscapes, wildlife, and culture of East Africa, guiding became more than a profession. It became a way of life. A way of understanding the land, reading its stories, and sharing them with those who seek something real.
Today, I guide not just to show wildlife - but to help you experience it.
- ·A professional safari guide
- ·A conservationist
- ·A wildlife photographer
- ·A safari leader
KPSGA Gold Certified Guide
As a Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) Gold Certified Guide, I operate at the highest level of professional guiding in Kenya.
This means:
- • Deep knowledge of wildlife behavior and ecosystems
- • Advanced guiding standards and safety
- • Years of field experience across diverse landscapes
But beyond qualifications, it's about instinct - knowing where to be, when to wait, and how to read the bush.

Some of the most memorable moments are not the largest animals — they are the quiet ones you almost miss. I like to make room for those, too.

How I Guide
I believe the best safaris are not rushed. They are patient. Observant. Unscripted. It's not about ticking off sightings - it's about understanding them. Taking time with a moment. Letting the wild reveal itself naturally.
No two days are the same. No two safaris are the same. And that is exactly how it should be.
In camp or on the vehicle, I am there to hold the rhythm of the trip — calm, clear, and focused on your safety and the quality of every day.
A Personal Approach
When you travel with me, you are not part of a system or a schedule.
Your safari is:
- • Personally guided
- • Thoughtfully designed
- • Fully tailored to your interests
From the first conversation to your final day in the bush, everything is handled with care, detail, and intention.
More Than Wildlife
The safari experience is not only about animals - it is about people and place. Being closely connected to local communities, including the Maasai people, allows me to share a deeper perspective of the land - its culture, its challenges, and its future.
This connection brings meaning to every journey.
A Few Things About Me
- • I find peace in early morning drives before the world wakes up
- • Elephants are among the most fascinating animals to observe - intelligent, emotional, and deeply connected
- • The best safari moments are often the quietest ones
"For me, guiding is not about leading the way - it is about helping you see, feel, and understand the wild in a way that stays with you long after you leave."
